Furfural is a colorless to amber-like oily liquid with an almond-like odor. On exposure to light and air, it turns reddish brown. Flash point 140°F. Denser than water and soluble in water. Vapors heavier than air. May be toxic by ingestion, skin absorption or inhalation.
