Butyl Acetate is a colorless or yellowish liquid with a strong fruity odor. It occurs in many fruits and is a constituent of apple aromas. Butyl Acetate is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, and strong bases.

This substance is used in the following products: coating products, washing and cleaning products, fillers, putties, plasters, modelling clay, anti-freeze products, finger paints, lubricants, greases and biocides (e.g. disinfectants, pest control products). Other release to the environment of this substance is likely to occur from: indoor use (e.g. machine wash liquids/detergents, automotive care products, paints and coating or adhesives, fragrances and air fresheners).
