Polylactic Acid, often abbreviated as PLA, is a bioplastic made from polylactide molecules. Polylactides are a group of biodegradable and bio-based plastics made from renewable resources such as corn starch, sugar cane or other plants. They are an environment-friendly alternative to conventional petroleum-based plastics and are characterized by their biodegradability and lower environmental impact.
